Flxy

WD led the design and branding of FlexBox, an editable semi-custom home designed to adapt to changing lifestyles.
Even today, when remote work has become part of everyday life, many homes are still designed around fixed floor plans.
However, the way people live is always changing.
In this project, together with Kikokochi House Lab at Okamura Home Co., Ltd., we explored a new way of thinking about housing—not as a finished “box,” but as an updatable “system.”
The columns and beams are intentionally left exposed, allowing the space to be arranged around its structure.
To support changing uses of the space, we also created FLXY, a product that functions somewhere between furniture and a partition.
Rather than designing architecture as something fixed,
we designed it as a product that can continue to be edited to fit the way people live.
FlexBox proposes a new way to make homes last longer by offering a system that maintains satisfaction over time while adapting to changes in everyday life.


変化する暮らしに寄り添う、編集可能なセミオーダー住宅 「FlexBox」 の
デザインおよびブランディングを担当しました。

リモートワークが日常となった現代においても、多くの住宅は依然として固定化された間取りを前提に設計されています。
しかし、人の暮らしは常に変化し続けるものです。

そこで本プロジェクトでは、株式会社オカムラホーム「木ここち家ラボ」の皆さまとともに、
住まいを完成された“箱”としてではなく、更新可能な“システム”として捉え直すことを試みました。

柱と梁をあえて露出させ、その構造を起点として空間を編集していく。
その上で、空間の使い方を変化させるための要素として、FLXYという家具のような仕切りのようなプロダクトを用意しました。

建築を固定されたものとしてつくるのではなく、
暮らしに合わせて編集され続けるプロダクトとして設計すること。

FlexBoxは、住まいを長く使い続けるための新しい方法として、
暮らしの変化に寄り添いながら住まいの満足度を維持していく仕組みを提案しています。
